Most Home, Motor, Travel and Pet Insurance policies have a policy Excess, and so You have to pay the first part of any claim that You make under the policy.

Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement is designed to repay you the amount of any policy excess you have to pay when you make a successful claim under one of those policies.

This insurance is underwritten by Lloyd's Syndicate 5820, which is managed by ANV Syndicates Limited. This policy document includes important details about the cover provided and any exclusions that may apply. It is only valid, and must be read in conjunction with, Your Insurance Schedule.

All insurance documents and all communications with You about Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement will be in easy to understand English. Words which appear with a capital letter have the meanings given to them in the Definitions section of this policy

This Certificate combined with Your Insurance Schedule certifies that insurance has been effected between You and Us. In return for payment of the premium We agree to insure You in accordance with the terms and conditions contained in and endorsed on these documents.

This insurance is managed by insure4excess which is a trading name of Towergate Underwriting Group Limited. We have entered into a Binding Authority Contract reference number 6025/EW148 with Towergate Underwriting Group Limited under which We have authorised them to sign these documents on Our behalf.

If You cancel within 14 days of receiving Your documents You will receive a full refund of premium as long as You have not made a claim and do not intend to make a claim.

1: To qualify for Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance you must be named as the Policyholder under the main insurance policy.

2: This insurance only applies if the Excess is under a Main Insurance Policy for a private motor vehicle, Your own home, Your Pet or a Travel insurance policy. Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance applies only to Your own personal insurances. It will not include any commercial insurances of any nature.

3: You must be a permanent resident of the United Kingdom, including the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man.

The following words and phrases will have the same meaning wherever they appear in this document with a capital letter.

"Excess" means the amount You had to pay towards the first part of a claim under Your Main Insurance Policy and is clearly stated as being an Excess in Your Main Insurance Policy documents.

"Insurance schedule" means the document issued to You which forms part of the insurance contract between You and Us. It contains Your name and gives details of the level of cover provided under Your Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance.

"Main insurance policy/policies" means any of the following types of insurance policy taken out by You and under which You are named as the Policyholder:

 Home Insurance Policy - a policy which protects Your own private dwelling, which must also be Your normal place of residence. It must provide Buildings Insurance and/or Contents Insurance.
 Motor Insurance Policy - a policy for a private motor vehicle covering only Social, commuting or Class One Business use (using Your car to drive to work and to other work sites). This policy will not cover commercial vehicles, light commercial vehicles used for business, vehicles with more than 7 seats or invalid carriages.
 Pet Insurance Policy - a policy that pays for veterinary costs if Your pet becomes ill or is injured in an accident or Your pet dies, or is lost or stolen.
 Travel Insurance Policy - a policy that is intended to cover overseas medical expenses, cancellation or delay of the trip, personal baggage and belongings and other losses incurred whilst You are travelling.

"Maximum reimbursement limit" means the most we will pay in any one annual period of insurance, as shown in your insurance schedule.

"Period of insurance" means the annual period of cover under this Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance for which we have accepted the premium, as stated in your insurance schedule.

"Start date of cover" means the date that Your Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement starts as shown in Your Insurance Schedule.

"We/us/our" means Lloyd's Syndicate 5820. We are the insurer for Your Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance.

"You/your" means the person who is named as the Policyholder in the Insurance Schedule and named as the Policyholder in the Main Insurance Policy.

If you make a claim under your main insurance policy we will reimburse you the amount of any excess that you had to pay.

Your Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance applies only if:

(a) the incident that gave rise to the claim under your main insurance policy happened during the period of insurance of your Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement Insurance.

(b) the claim under your main insurance policy was successful and was for more than the amount of the excess.

You can claim under Lifestyle Excess Reimbursement more than once during the period of insurance but in total we will only reimburse you up to the maximum reimbursement limit shown in the insurance schedule.

We will not reimburse any Excess You pay under a motor insurance policy if the claim under that policy was only for glass repair or replacement.

We will not reimburse your excess in the following circumstances:

1: if the incident that gave rise to the claim under your main insurance policy happened before the start date of cover, as stated in your insurance schedule;

2: if you were aware at the start date of cover that you were going to make a claim under your main insurance policy;

3: if your claim under your main insurance policy was not successful or was for less than the amount of the excess;

4: where any amount contributed by you or deducted from the settlement of your claim is not clearly stated in your main insurance policy as being the policy excess;

5: where the excess you paid was under a motor insurance policy and the motor vehicle was used for:

(a) hire and reward;
(b) any competition, trial, performance test, race or trial of speed, including off-road events, whether between motor vehicles or otherwise, and irrespective of whether this takes place on any circuit or track, formed or otherwise, and regardless of any statutory authorisation of any such event;
(c) any business use other than "Class One Business Use" as normally defined by motor insurers;
(d) any purpose in connection with the motor trade;

6. If your claim results in any way from war, terrorism or nuclear risk. For the purposes of this exclusion:

"War" means invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities whether war is declared or not, civil war, rebellion, revolution, insurrection, military or usurped power, confiscation, nationalism or requisition or destruction or damage to property by or under the order of any government or public or legal authority.

"Terrorism" means any act of any person or organization involving, causing or threatening harm or putting the public or any section of the public in fear if it is likely that the purpose is of a political, religious, ideological (of an intellectual or rational nature) or similar nature.

"Nuclear Risk" means damage or destruction caused by, contributed to or arising from:

ionizing radiation or contamination by radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or from any nuclear waste from the combustion of nuclear fuel; or

the radioactive, toxic, explosive or other hazardous properties of any explosive nuclear assembly or component thereof.

You may cancel this insurance within 14 days of receiving Your documents (cooling off period) and will be entitled to a full refund of the premium as long as You have not made a claim and do not intend to make a claim. You can cancel at any time after the 14 day cooling off period and You will receive a proportionate refund of any premium paid for the remaining Period of Insurance, providing You have not made and do not intend to make a claim.

We may cancel Your policy at any time by sending thirty days' written notice to Your last known address. We will allow a refund, less charge equal to the period of cover You have received.

We may cancel Your policy due to the non-payment of premium, if You use threatening or abusive behaviour or language or We have reasonable suspicion of fraud. This is not an exhaustive list.

You should notify Your claim within 30 days of receiving settlement of the claim under Your Main Insurance Policy. If You do not, it might mean that We will be unable to reimburse You for the Excess.

Please tell them the policy reference number which will be shown in your insurance schedule.

If you are not sure whether you can claim, please talk to the Claim Administrator who will be happy to help you.

The Claim Administrator will send You a claim form, which You should fill in and send back as soon as possible.

You must also provide a copy of the settlement letter from the insurer of Your Main Insurance Policy giving details of the date of the claim incident and which clearly states the amount of the Excess that has been paid by You.

The Claim Administrator will tell you if they need any more information or documentation from you.



Right of recovery
We may, at Our own expense, take proceedings in Your name to recover compensation from any third party in respect of any indemnity provided under this insurance.

Any amounts that are recovered will belong to Us and You must provide all reasonable assistance to help Us obtain a recovery.

If You wish to make a claim under this policy but have already claimed, or intend to claim, for the same loss under another insurance policy, We will only pay Our share of the claim.

We will only give you the cover that is described in this Certificate if you comply with all its terms.

If any claim under this insurance is fraudulent or is intended to mislead, or if any misleading or fraudulent means are used by You or anyone acting on Your behalf to obtain benefit under this insurance, Your right to any benefit under this insurance will end, Your cover will be cancelled and We will be entitled to recover any benefit paid and costs incurred as a result of any such fraudulent or misleading claim. We may also inform the police.

Unless You and We agree otherwise, the law which applies to this contract is the law which applies to the part of the United Kingdom in which You live.

Any legal proceedings between you and us in connection with this contract will, therefore, only take place in the courts of the part of the United Kingdom in which you live.

This insurance is a legally binding contract between You and Us and does not give, or intend to give, rights to anyone else. Only You or Us can enforce the terms of this contract.

We will not provide any benefit under this contract of insurance if doing so would breach any sanction, prohibition or restriction imposed by law or regulation.

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You may be entitled to compensation from the Scheme if We are unable to meet our obligations to You under this contract.

We will only use the information You provide to administer Your policy and handle any claims. We may pass Your information to other parties who act on Our behalf for these activities both inside and outside of the European Economic Area ("EEA").

We may also share Your information with other insurers, regulatory bodies, fraud prevention agencies or other parties as permitted or required by law.

Data protection laws outside of the EEA may not be as comprehensive as those within it and We will take reasonable steps to ensure that Your data is always protected in accordance with the EEA standards.

We will take reasonable steps to make sure the information held is accurate and only used and kept for as long as necessary.

This insurance is underwritten 100% by a Lloyd's syndicate, and each member of the syndicate (rather than the syndicate itself) is an insurer. Each member has underwritten a proportion of the total liability for the syndicate, which is the total of the proportions underwritten by all the members of the syndicate taken together. A member is liable only for that member's proportion and is not jointly liable for any other member's proportion.
